A First of Its Kind

3nd Blonay Workshop for Contemporary Quartet Music

The Pro-Bio Foundation is pleased to announce that the third Workshop for Contemporary Quartet Music will take place from June 8-14, 2010 in Blonay, Switzerland. The quartet-in-residence will be the Arditti Quartet and Brian Ferneyhough will be composer-in-residence.

Six of the world's leading composers [Brian Ferneyhough, Gerard Pesson, Wolfgang Rihm, George Benjamin, Beat Furrer, Hans Abrahamsen] were invited to recommend one of their promising students to participate in the summer school. These young composers have been invited to prepare quartets which will be studied and rehearsed by the Arditti Quartet under guidance of Brian Ferneyhough. The six quartets will receive their first performance at the IMD [International Music Institute Darmstadt] on July 19, 2010.
